One of the biggest draws to this part of South Carolina is the great golf!
There is an incredible selection of more than 100 championship courses in this region, including some of the most beautiful and challenging courses nationwide. Several of these courses are built on historic rice plantations, each with their own unique character and natural beauty and, in many cases, the original plantation name.
The courses are built among giant old oak trees, tidal rivers, deep swamps and saltwater marshes.
Water birds watch the games from old reserve ponds that were originally used to flood the rice fields.
It is evident that the architects have worked to protect the natural habitat and wildlife of the area while creating courses that are challenging and beautiful.
Many of the housing communities here have their own courses. But, regardless of where you live or work, there are courses close at hand. What a rare and special treat it is to golf here.
